Pelvic Floor Health, Birth, Death, and Sex with Dr. Susan Steffes
Dr. Steffes received her doula certification at DONA International, her sex educator training at Healthy Futures of Texas, her PT degree at Texas State University, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy at Northeastern University and she gained a dual certification in pelvic floor health and obstetric physical therapy at The American Physical Therapy Association Academy of Pelvic Health where she later became an instructor. She has been my friend for about 25 years and is currently a Lavender Farmer in Sequim WA. www.fleurishlavender.com/ You can find Susan peacefully growing lavender with her husband, her dog, and her 3 adorable alpacas. I recommend a visit as soon as the pandemic is behind us.
Our conversation runs the gamut from Birth to Death, and of course, we talk about Sex.
I need to make one correction. In this interview, I refer to an earlier guest’s work as “Sex Surrogacy”, as our guest Brain Gibney taught us, the correct term is Surrogate Partner Therapy. This matters because sex is not always involved in the work these amazing people provide.
After listening to her interview, join us in our JSE Community for a live Q&A session Saturday, March 20th at 5 PM PST. We'll drink a glass of wine (or a cup of tea) together, talk about why Pelvic Floor PT is WAY more important than you think it is, and I'll ask her the questions I didn't get to, like "what can exactly can I expect from an appointment with a PT therapist that specializes in the pelvic floor?" If you're lucky, you can hear fun stories from our past.
